Quinte Commuter Challenge
June 4-10
Bike, Walk, Bus, Carpool or Roll to Anywhere, Anytime
This friendly competition between cities and workplaces celebrates sustainable and active ways of commuting. Workplaces and residents in Belleville and Quinte West are encouraged to give up their car and make a commitment to at least one trip by foot, bike, transit or carpool from June 4th – 10th. All participants will be entered to win fantastic prizes donated by local organizations. See the Quinte Region Commuter Challenge rules for details.
Take the Challenge in Belleville and Quinte West today at www.commuterchallenge.ca and you could win great local prizes, including:
- A two month adult/couple membership to the YMCA (Belleville & Quinte West)
- Two nights camping at Depot Lakes
- A 1 hour massage at Belleville Integrative Health Centre
#BOQBikes Contest
May 27 – June 30
Take a picture of your bike at any Bay of Quinte landmark and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #BOQBikes. Every post will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of the following prizes:
- Your choice of Arkel Bike Panniers (valued up to $200) courtesy of Ideal Bike.
- $170 gift certificate to CrossFit Belleville

National Bike to Work Day Breakfast
May 29, 7:00-9:00 am at Market Square
Bike to work May 29th and eat a FREE breakfast in return! Let’s gather downtown for a free healthy breakfast to celebrate everyone who has enjoyed biking as a sustainable form of commuting on Bike to Work Day. You don’t have to be going to work, just show up on two wheels.
Cycling Safety Education
Can-Bike Kidz
Saturdays, May 27-June 10 at the Children’s Safety Village
CanBike Kidz is a three week course for children ages 9-12 who know how to ride a bike and want to improve their skills. Students will improve their technical bicyle handling skills, learn how traffic works, good decision making, lane positioning, proper cycling equipment, collision avoidance techniques, and riding on residential streets.
Participants must have a bicycle in good condition. Thanks to the generosity of Ideal Bike, all participants will receive a minor bicycle tune up, and high quality helmet on the first day.
Cost: $45
Off-Road Safe Cycling Workshop
June 1 and June 12, 6:30 pm at The Brake Room
Cost: By donation (proceeds to support Belleville on Bikes cycling education programs)
